We are located about 5 minutes from downtown Birmingham in the heart of Homewood. Our office is on the top floor of the Southbridge Office Building and overlooks the hills of Birmingham.

The Trauma-Informed Minister and Mental Health First Aid

  • Designed for pastors, lay ministers and missionaries who want to have a more trauma-informed approach to pastoral care, practical ministries and missions

  • Learn a theological approach to trauma, suffering and healing; A physical-spiritual approach to understanding the impact of trauma, practical ministry skills for ministering to those who have suffered; Scope of Practice; Troubleshooting common hang ups; and Q&A

Working with Spiritual & Religious Trauma

  • Designed for mental health clinicians (psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers, psychiatric providers, etc)

  • Define spiritual and religious trauma as well as its psychological, emotional and social impact on clients

  • Learn to identify common signs and symptoms including behavioral, cognitive and emotional indicators

  • Create individualized treatment plans that integrate spiritual and religious dimensions of client experiences to foster holistic healing

Erica Smith, M.Div, MA, ALC is an Associate Licensed Counselor and freelance consultant with a passion to help people heal from trauma, break through obstacles, and live a life of wholeness. She has a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies, Master of Divinity and her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is a mental health counselor seeing clients in Alabama. Her pursuit of whole heartedness in her own life as well as her experience in inner healing and coaching give her insight into how people can move into the abundant life they were designed for. Through compassionate, supportive exploration and a personalized approach, she partners with the client in their pursuit of freedom and wholeheartedness. 

She is a dynamic public speaker who addresses a wide range of topics, including mental health, leadership, and faith-based issues. She leverages her expertise to train counselors, coaches and ministry leaders in working with survivors of religious abuse and spiritual trauma. Additionally, she offers a specialized curriculum designed for ministry leaders, church communities, and missions teams, addressing mental health in the church, healthy leadership, identity issues, and overall well-being. She also leads transformative retreats focused on personal growth, spiritual development, and community building.
